The Mekong Delta and Its Importance

The Mekong Delta is a region in the South Western part of Vietnam that encompasses a large area through which the Mekong River flows on its way to the South China Sea (Mekong River Commission 2010). Geographically, the Mekong Delta exhibits a varied terrain with flood plains and hills. These variations are known to be a product of tectonic uplifts and folding that occurred millions of years ago.
